The Challenge/Prompt
A sonnet.
About the recently resurrected Azirelia.
And — a bit like a deck guide — the poem has to take you through the complexities of Azirelia’s gameplan.
Wait, da… what!?
Well, yes — “Azirelia sonnets” is indeed a bit of an odd prompt, to be sure.
You see, five days ago…
… Wick, who holds a black belt in shitposting, stirred things up at the Blue Bird Inn:
And stirred they were, getting a nice bit of traction; you’d think he was a farmer by how he was harvesting interactions!
… and a good bit of fun ensued in that corner of the Blue Bird Inn.
But!
Sitting quietly by the Blue Bird’s bar, bA1ance was both making sure #LoR Haiku becomes a thing…
… and also number-crunching Balco’s & Legna’s data, to optimize a resurrected Azirelia blend that he was piloting to Diamond:
Then solitaryplace joined bA1ance at the bar and, as she begged for a beer, she sighed:
“Sooo many emails every day… I want to write my colleagues haiku!”
So, one thing led to another — in the beautifully chaotic manner in which online interactions tend to flow — and from the intricacies of Haiku they pivoted to how to write sonnets. And, as they were discussing the finer points of iambic pentameters, Leer came looking for bA1ance to exchange some Azirelia know-how, but upon hearing about sonnets he said, “Hey, count me in!”…
… and here we are now:
Three brief Azirelia guides, in sonnet form,
Plus three haiku about our passion for LoR.
Three Azirelia Sonnets
I say, while others play six champions, Let’s bend the rules and play with nine instead. Azir and Dais in your mulligans? Yes keep them in your hand, and rest your head. Irelia seeks to Blade Dance with you? Ideal! Unless your foe is aggressive. If that’s the case you want to spar and du… O, dance! With swiftness, you will surely live! The soonest you can start to sing Duets Is by turn three. The sand, turn four, its stance! Azir, who summons and who power gets. React with mana and Defiant Dance. You thought Shuriman desert to be vast? Oh, give this deck a try, you’ll have a blast! —bA1ance
Just free attack as often as you can. What? Did you think that it would be complex? If you decide you want to give a damn, then you should choose to play another deck. Play student first, or else keep safe the dunes, then emperor's dais (this one is the key). Turn three, a champion, then summon goons and after that, the win is yours for free. Inspiring marshal once you've levelled up, but until then, the sandcrafter will do. If your opponent hasn't had enough by that point, free blade surge will follow through. Was Azirelia the worst deck in LoR? Perhaps, but now both champions are no more. —solitaryplace
Two regions, lost two realms, two diff'rent kind With longing to restore what's now astray Their strength combined, one spirit and one mind Ev'nescant blades and soldiers, lead the way They charge together, filling you with fright The students spar, 'midst droplets dancing bright Recall thy foe, Recall thy own, new strike Attune duets, protect what's most fragile Find Emperor and staging, students wait Blades only dance when soldiers charge ahead To defend, cheap minds before it's too late 'gainst value, defiant music they dread Irelia the gracious, surgical strikes Azir the maniac, shifting sands arise! —Leer
